Who We Are
The Healthy By Design (HBD) Coalition is a multi-sector collaborative of representatives from government, business, community development, social service, arts and culture, faith, education, and of course – health. We are committed to making the healthy choice the easy choice for anyone who lives, works, learns, and plays in Yellowstone County through a common vision, mutually reinforcing activities, shared measurement, and continuous communication.
Our Staff
Our Coalition has two dedicated “backbone” staff who support our efforts by convening partners, identifying and leveraging resources, and providing administrative support for initiatives. Working on behalf of the Alliance of Billings Clinic, SCL Health/St. Vincent, and RiverStone Health, they manage the Coalition, and the development of the Yellowstone County Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
In 2021, our staff expanded to include a project coordinator after being awarded a grant from the Centers for Disease Control for Covid-19 response and resilience. See Resilient Yellowstone to learn about this project.
Amy Queen
Community Health Improvement Manager
Born and raised in Montana, Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Montana. She served as the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) lactation services coordinator at RiverStone Health and most recently as the Eastern Montana Area Health Education Center program manager. When not at work, she can be found adventuring with her husband and children, hosting neighborhood get-togethers, and tickling the ivories.
Emma Lamson
Community Health Improvement Specialist
Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from the University of Iowa in 2022. Her experience with the Johnson County Public Health Department conducting community health assessments of heat index measures will be invaluable to Healthy By Design’s community health work. When not at work, Emma enjoys fly fishing, camping, hiking, and traveling.
Amanda Zimmerman, MPH, CPH
Resilient Yellowstone Project Coordinator
Amanda graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance with a Health Promotion Option at Montana State University Billings in 2015. She then earned her Master of Public Health with a Concentration in Epidemiology from the University of South Florida in 2022. With experience with evaluation, resource development and direct services, Amanda’s work with Healthy By Design will continue to help create capacity by supporting community health workers and addressing health disparities. When not at work, Amanda enjoys hiking, fishing, and mountain biking.
